In a world of new "green" product development everyday I am relieved to see someone has decided to think of straw again as a straw. Wheat was used as a straw a very long time ago and Designer, Yuki Iida thankfully resurrected this amazing source when she entered her idea into the Muji Awards Competition with the theme FOUND..
The wheat is completely natural and will totally biodegrade. Outstanding idea. Wish I came up with wheat straws. "The original meaning of the term "straw" was "wheat straw". Wall art depicting people using straws of wheat to drink from have been discovered from ancient Mesopotamian ruins. Straws of wheat are forms created by nature; they are materials that return to the soil. There's no waste in either the shape itself, or in its actual existence".
