Jacob Hashimoto may now be my favorite contemporary artist. His paper sculptures and installations are magical and uplifting, light and airy. I could easily see his delicate white hanging paper lantern discs, which look cloud like to me, hanging at a wedding reception. It makes me want to recreate my wedding day.
Jacob Hashimoto is well known for his "kites". A series of large scale sculptural forms suspended front eh ceiling and integrating themselves with e space like air. Bamboo rods, string, and offset prints are used to create the "kites". This is an installation I would love to see in a yoga shala. I could imagine being on my back ready to go into a full wheel (chakrasana/backbend) and locking up into these paper clouds.
